Davidashen Police Chief and 'Tlosh Haiko' Engaged in Illegal Deals
A few days ago, the internet was shaken by news that employees of the National Security Service (NSS) and internal security of the Police of the Republic of Armenia had entered the Davidashen police station in Yerevan, where they conducted investigative actions for hours. According to information obtained by LURER.com, the head of the Davidashen police department, Mkrtich Varosyan, and his subordinates have collaborated and engaged in deals several times with a person known as 'Tlosh Haiko', who is infamous as the leader and supervisor of a group of thieves.
As a result of the agreements reached between them, several thefts were carried out, which were not disclosed by the police chief, and the stolen goods were distributed between the parties. Furthermore, today, the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper, citing its sources, reported that Mkrtich Varosyan, the head of the Davidashen police department, the deputy head Arayik Ghazaryan, an operational officer of the department, and another individual have been detained.
Some details have also emerged. Specifically, the employees of the Davidashen police department recently detained an individual on suspicion of theft. According to rumors circulating in law enforcement, the suspect confessed to the police that he committed the theft and even took them to the scene of the crime and recounted the details of the incident, explaining what was taken from where. This was essentially a self-incriminating statement. Thus, the necessity to detain the Davidashen police chief arose.
The fact is that the theft case disclosed by the Davidashen police and reported to superiors was staged, and the thief provided false testimony while the police accepted it under dubious circumstances. The NSS was able to uncover the truth through wiretaps and entered the Davidashen police department with armed evidence on April 9.
The NSS has initiated a criminal case under Article 308 of the RA Criminal Code, which pertains to abuse of official power.
