Shooting in Ararat Region: 43-Year-Old Man Killed, 25-Year-Old Taken to Hospital
A violent incident occurred in the Taparakani community of the Ararat region, resulting in the death of a 43-year-old man and the hospitalization of a 25-year-old young man who sustained injuries. At the scene, investigators discovered six fired cartridges of 9mm caliber, a bullet, a plastic grip of a firearm, and traces of what appeared to be blood.
Authorities have confirmed that there is an arrested individual in connection with the incident. According to the information provided by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, at 23:05 on April 12, 2020, a report was received from the Ararat Medical Center that a 25-year-old resident of the Taparakani community had been admitted with a “penetrating laceration to the rear wall of the left half of the chest.”
In light of the incident, a criminal case has been initiated at the Ararat Regional Investigative Department under Article 112 (causing serious harm to health intentionally) and Article 235 (illegally acquiring, selling, keeping, transporting, or carrying weapons, military supplies, explosives, or explosive devices) of the RA Criminal Code.
On the same day at 23:50, another report was received indicating that an ambulance team had transported a 43-year-old man from one of the apartments in Artashat city to the Masis Medical Center, diagnosed with “gunshot wounds to the upper third of the left thigh and the upper third of the left shin,” where he died in the ambulance.
A criminal case has also been initiated regarding this matter under Article 104 (murder) and Article 235 of the RA Criminal Code. Following extensive investigative actions and operational-search measures, a resident of the Taparakani community was arrested on suspicion of intentionally causing the death of the 43-year-old man through the use of a firearm. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
