Shooting at a 35-Year-Old Resident in Yerevan and the Perpetrator Flees

On April 6, 2020, at 8:00 PM, a report was received from the "Astghik" Medical Center that a 35-year-old resident of Yerevan had sought medical assistance for a gunshot wound to the leg.

Following the incident, a criminal case was initiated on the same day at the Shengavit Investigation Division of the Yerevan Investigative Committee, based on Article 34-104, Part 2, Clause 6 (attempted murder) and Article 235, Part 1 (illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation, or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives, or explosive devices) of the Criminal Code of Armenia.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the 35-year-old man sustained the injury on Eghbayrutyun Street in a busy area of Yerevan, where an individual, with the apparent intention to unlawfully take his life, fired shots from illegal firearms at him, causing bodily harm. Due to circumstances beyond his control, the perpetrator was unable to complete the crime and fled the scene.

Immediate investigative and procedural actions were undertaken, including an examination of the crime scene. As a result, 8 cartridges designed for use with a 9mm firearm and 3 bullets were discovered. Relevant expertise has been appointed.

Necessary investigative actions are ongoing, as well as operational-search activities aimed at identifying and locating the individual suspected of committing the crime. The preliminary investigation continues.
