We Have All the Preventive Tools to Fight Disinformation: Avinyan
In Armenia, a state of emergency was declared in connection with the new coronavirus, during which restrictions on media have been imposed until April 14. This issue was discussed during an interview with the Chief State Inspector and Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan on the First Channel, where he was asked about it by commentator Petros Ghazaryan.
"Disinformation that significantly impacts during a state of emergency is very dangerous, as it can create panic. However, I must agree on one point regarding effectiveness: I believe that overall, at this stage, we have all the preventive tools to combat disinformation. I do not think there is distrust against the information provided by the commandant’s office, the ministry, or the prime minister,” Avinyan said. “We also had a meeting with editors today; I do not yet know how they have summarized it or what conclusions they have drawn, but I think it is possible that the restrictions on media will be lifted in a very short period of time."
