Will They Demolish Hovik Abrahamyan's Monument Residence?

According to the newspaper "Hayravan," there is a belief within pro-government circles that strong PR measures are necessary to dictate the outcome of the upcoming referendum. Currently, they are awaiting the results of surveys to determine whether the pro vote is sufficient; if not, their strategy moving forward will need to be drastic.

Opposition circles believe that such a move could involve the decision to demolish one of Hovik Abrahamyan’s residences at Monument. As is known, the former Prime Minister has built two houses in that area, one for himself and the other for his son. One of these is legal, duly documented, while the other has not yet been legalized, which refers to the son’s residence.

Moreover, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements regarding illegal residences primarily concern this house, which has a cadastral value of 310 million drams, against which he pays an annual property tax of 2.5 million drams. The opposition believes that to perfect the show and appeal to the lower classes, Nikol Pashinyan may even resort to demolishing this particular residence.

This situation is reminiscent of a year ago when the "Jazzve" café in the Opera Park was demolished, purportedly to return the park to Yerevanians, although that process has also come to a standstill, as the turn never reached Samvel Aleksanyan's café, which is also situated in a green area adjacent to the Opera square on Sayat Nova street.
