Vardenyats Pass Closed, Blizzard Conditions in Gegharkunik Region’s Sevan-Gavar Section
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed and impassable roads within the territory of Armenia. The roads leading to Amberd Fortress and Kary Lake in Aragatsotn Province will remain closed indefinitely.
Vardenyats Pass is currently closed to all types of vehicles, and a blizzard is occurring in the pass. Blizzard conditions are also reported in the Sevan-Gavar section of Gegharkunik Province.
In Shirak Province, the Keti-Ashotsk roads are difficult to pass. There is reported black ice in some areas of the Sotk-Karvachar and Lanjik-Mastara roads.
Snowfall is observed in the cities of Jermuk in Vayots Dzor Province, Vardenis in Gegharkunik Province, and Kajaran in Syunik, as well as in areas known as “Meghru Sar,” Sisian-Zanger, and Saravan-Zanger (fog is present) roads.
Throughout February 25, blizzard conditions and precipitation in the form of snow and mixed rain are expected in the northern regions, especially in some mountainous areas.
