Serzh Sargsyan Welcomed with Applause in Courtroom

The first hearing in the case against the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, and others began at the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan. Serzh Sargsyan attended the session. Supporters applauded him as he entered the courtroom.

According to the accusations, Sargsyan, with the prompting of Barsyekh Beglaryan, the owner of 'Flash' LLC, and the assistance of his deputy Samvel Galstyan and Gevorg Harutyunyan, head of the Plant Production Department of the Armenian Ministry of Agriculture, committed significant embezzlement of state funds amounting to a total of 489,160,310 AMD from the government's reserve fund, motivated by personal interests and against the interests of his official duties.
