Stepantsminda-Lars Highway Open, Blizzard Expected in Northern Armenia

As of February 24, at 18:10, the roadways in Armenia are mostly passable. The roads leading to Amberd Fortress and Kari Lake in the Aragatsotn province will remain closed for an indefinite period.

Snowfall is currently taking place in the Saravan - "Zanger" section. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia, a blizzard is expected throughout February 25 in the northern regions, particularly in mountainous areas, along with precipitation in the form of snow and rain mixed with snow.

Based on information received from the Emergency Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the North Ossetia Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is open for all types of vehicles. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia advises drivers to travel exclusively on winter tires.
