Alpinists to Teach Soldiers How to Face Hazards in the Mountains
The Armenian Federation of Alpinism and Mountain Tourism has proposed to the Ministry of Defense to jointly design and implement a training program aimed at familiarizing soldiers with the peculiarities of working in mountainous conditions and skills to confront dangers.
This information was confirmed in an interview with Armtimes.com by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, who mentioned that he personally received the alpinists' proposal and forwarded it to the General Staff. Hovhannisyan described this initiative as "quite good," while the Vice President of the Armenian Federation of Alpinism and Mountain Tourism, Suren Danielyan, noted that discussions with the Ministry of Defense have already begun, and this program will soon be implemented in all military units that require such training, according to the terrain.
“Currently, we are in discussions to understand how all of this should happen. This will be determined in the coming months. One thing is for sure: in the near future, this program will be launched in all military units in Artsakh and Armenia where there is a need for it,” said Danielyan. He emphasized that mountain training is already being conducted in military units. Their proposed program aims to enhance that training, with the goal of making soldiers more familiar with mountainous terrain and protected from hazards.
