Ashraf Ghani Officially Wins Afghan Presidential Election
The current President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani, was officially declared the winner of the presidential elections on February 18. This information was reported by Ariana News, an Afghan television channel, which broadcast the press conference of the Chairman of the Independent Election Commission (IEC), Hawa Alam Nuristani.
According to the IEC chairman, the final results of the vote counting from the presidential elections held in September 2019 indicate that Ashraf Ghani has emerged victorious. Based on the summative data, Ghani received 50.64 percent of the votes, with over 923,000 citizens voting in his favor.
