My Step Rejects New Mechanism for Debt Repayment to Banks
The bill proposed by the LHK parliamentary faction was definitively rejected by the parliamentary majority today and did not enter the agenda. Only the LHK and BHK factions, along with one My Step deputy, voted in favor of the bill.
The bill proposed to exempt banks from taxes on debt repayment. While presenting the initiative, Mane Tandilyan from the LHK explained that it concerned “hopeless” debts. However, the ruling faction referred to the government’s view that if such a law were passed, it would encourage non-repayment of debts.
