EU Expresses Concern Over African Migrants Issue in Libya

The situation regarding African migrants in Libya is of utmost importance to the European Union. The EU is providing necessary financial assistance to specialized organizations addressing this issue. This was stated by Josep Borrell, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, during a press conference held in Strasbourg on Tuesday.

“We are aware of the problems that exist there. The EU is the main sponsor of organizations, including UN agencies, that deal with migrant issues in Libya. Since we are not operating there, we instead support the organizations that are involved in this matter. Thanks to EU funding, about 40,000 migrants have returned to their places of residence,” said the EU representative.
