VIDEO: Drivers of Several City Routes Declare Strike
Auroranews has received reports that since early morning, dozens of drivers serving 10 city routes have been staging a protest.
It turns out that the amount allocated to the route owner as the “plan” has been increased by 1500 drams, bringing it to nearly 28,000 drams.
“We cannot meet the daily set ‘plan,’ which, by the way, amounts to 27,700 drams, while we only receive 100 drams from each passenger. Under these conditions, we are not ready to go out on the route,” the striking drivers told us.
The drivers note that the route owners are aware of the issue. “Our demand is to either reduce the price of our gas or the amount allocated to the route owner so that we can work. We work from morning to evening and go home with no money. To earn money, we take more than 20 people in a 13-seat minibus, driving under pressure. There is barely any room left for feet inside the bus. We are embarrassed too, but what else can we do?” they said.
Incidentally, we learned just minutes ago that officials from the Yerevan Transport Department have arrived to familiarize themselves with the issue, but as of now, no agreement has been reached with the drivers.
It should be noted that the drivers of routes number 1, 10, 12, 13, 19, 21, 23, 25, 29, and 34 have declared a strike.
