Number of Coronavirus Cases in China Reaches 40,171

As of 00:00 local time in China (20:00 February 9 in Yerevan), the number of patients infected with the new type of coronavirus that causes pneumonia has reached 40,171, with 908 reported fatalities, as reported by the State Health Committee of the PRC.

Over the past 24 hours, the number of infected individuals in the country has increased by 3,062, with 97 additional deaths. In Hubei province, the epicenter of the outbreak, 91 people have died.

Currently, nearly 35,000 individuals are undergoing treatment in hospitals across the country, with the condition of 6,500 patients being assessed as serious. Due to suspicion of infection, approximately 187,500 people are being monitored in medical facilities. So far, 3,300 individuals have recovered and been discharged.

Outside the continental part of the country, 64 confirmed cases of pneumonia have been reported in other regions of China. This includes 36 cases in Hong Kong, with one death, 10 cases in Macau, and 18 in Taiwan.
