Dividing the People into Black and White Was Not Enough, Now They Are Dividing Us into 'Yes' and 'No': Gevorg Petrosyan
I was one of those people who sincerely believed that a change of power would alter the fractured mutual intolerance within society. This was stated by Gevorg Petrosyan, a member of the 'Prosperous Armenia' faction, on his Facebook page.
“But it turns out I was wrong... Today, there is an unprecedented atmosphere of hostility and hatred in the country, fraught with the danger of mutual destruction at any moment. Apparently, for those in power, it was not enough to divide the people into black and white; now they are also dividing us into 'yes' and 'no'... May the ground swallow that referendum (I would express it more crudely), which, besides trampling the promise of an unfulfilled economic revolution for several more months like a football, further distances an already divided nation from each other,” he emphasized.
“History will not forgive all this, and our country will still pay a heavy price for it...”
