Jamanak: Was the driver of the bus number 99 involved in the accident on Isakov Avenue drunk?

Jamanak newspaper reports: “On the morning of February 5, the driver of the bus number 99 involved in an accident on Isakov Avenue was not drunk. As it became known, that day, after the accident, the press secretary of the Mayor of Yerevan, Hakob Karapetyan, rushed to issue a statement claiming that the driver of the 99 bus had been involved in an accident while under the influence and had not gone through the mandatory registration at the 'dispatcher' point.

However, it was revealed at the hospital that the driver had 0.091 mg of alcohol in his breath. According to Article 126 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Republic of Armenia, 'A person is considered to be in an intoxicated state if it is determined during testing that the concentration of pure alcohol in one liter of blood is more than 0.8 grams, or in one liter of exhaled air, it exceeds 0.4 milligrams.' Of course, one wonders why the press secretary of the Yerevan Mayor was lying. It’s certainly possible that he had his own mission in this matter, protecting the reputation of Mayor Marutyan, acting head of the Transport Department Edgar Galstyan, and the entire department.

Nevertheless, the newspaper was at the N35 'dispatcher' point yesterday, where the driver was supposed to present the dispatch report. Deputy Manager Vardevan Revazyan stated in an interview with the newspaper, 'Yes, the driver did not present the dispatch report at the 'dispatcher' point yesterday for 'registration'. This is the first incident concerning that driver; he has never come to work under the influence.'
