Vardenyats Pass and Lars Closed, Several Roads Impassable
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of February 5 at 08:42, there are closed and impassable roads within the territory of Armenia.
The Vardenyats Pass is closed. The following roads are difficult to pass: the segment leading to Zovaghuy in Gegharkunik Province (blizzard), the Sotk-Karvachar road (blizzard), and the Artik-Alagyaz roads in Shirak Province. In Siunik Province and parts of Aragatsotn Province, there are patches of black ice on the highways connecting Tsaghkadzor and Kuchak-Aparan, as well as on the Yerevan-Sevan highway.
In the Saravan-Zanger section, snow is falling. According to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation's North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is closed for all types of vehicles. Furthermore, the Russian side reports a buildup of 550 trucks.
