Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center to be Established: Surenyants

The head of the meteorological center of the RA MES hydromet service, Gagik Surenyants, wrote on his Facebook page: "A 'Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center' will be established.

During the meeting of the Armenian government, it was confirmed that the center will be reorganized into a non-commercial state organization resulting from the merger of the Ministry of Environment's proposed 'Center for Environmental Monitoring and Information', 'Forest Monitoring Center', and 'Service for Active Influence on Hydro-Meteorological and Atmospheric Phenomena'. This reform includes amendments to the government's decisions No. 552 of June 20, 2001 and No. 349-N of March 18, 2004, as well as the annulment of several other government decisions.

Minister Erik Grigoryan presented the relevant draft decision, specifically noting that the merger of these organizations is expected to enhance their operational effectiveness and to promote the implementation of a unified environmental monitoring concept and policies related to its execution.
