Mashalyan Meets with Erdogan and Cavusoglu
The 85th Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople, Archbishop Sahak Mashalyan, has met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This was reported by the official website of Erdoğan's office, indicating that the meeting took place in Ankara at the presidential residence. It was noted that the meeting was closed to the press.
On the same day, January 14, Mashalyan also met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu. Çavuşoğlu made a post on Twitter regarding the meeting, stating, 'I congratulate the newly elected 85th Patriarch of Turkey's Armenians, Sahak Mashalyan. May it be good for the Armenian community and our country. We will all continue to work together in the multicultural and tolerant atmosphere of our country.'
