Breaking News: Iran Admits Ukrainian Boeing Was Mistakenly Shot Down
Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has officially stated that human error was the cause of the Ukrainian Boeing 737 crash. This was reported by the Associated Press. Accordingly, Iran's armed forces considered the plane a hostile target after it changed direction toward the country's "sensitive military base," after which it was shot down.
Iran has apologized for the aviation disaster and promised to update its military systems to prevent similar incidents in the future.
On January 8, the Boeing 737 passenger aircraft, which had 176 people on board, was destroyed minutes after takeoff. Passengers included citizens of Iran, Ukraine, Germany, Canada, Afghanistan, the United Kingdom, and Sweden.
