Large-Scale Property Theft Chain Revealed in Syunik Province
The Syunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee has revealed a chain of large-scale property theft committed by a group of individuals, as a result of extensive joint investigative and procedural actions and operational-investigative measures conducted in cooperation with the police.
The preliminary investigation has established that a group of residents from Gyumri and Yerevan, with the aim of acquiring financial means through criminal means, reached a preliminary agreement among themselves. In November 2019, within two days, they illegally accessed automatic devices belonging to various business entities in different communities within the administrative territory of Syunik Province, utilizing technical means. They stole a total of 198,000 AMD in cash and six coin and banknote acceptance devices valued at 770,000 AMD.
Two individuals have been charged under the first, second, and third points of the second part of Article 177 of the RA Criminal Code, based on a sufficient combination of obtained evidence. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
Necessary investigative and procedural actions are being conducted to clarify all circumstances of the case, as well as the possible commission of other similar offenses by the accused, to provide an appropriate criminal-legal assessment of these actions.
Notice: The suspect or accused of the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a court verdict that has entered into legal force.
