Protests at Echmiadzin School No. 8: 300 Students Are Not Attending
For the second consecutive day, instead of students, parents are attending Echmiadzin School No. 8. Teachers are coming to school, but no classes are taking place as parents are not sending their children to school. The reason is that both the teaching staff and the parents are opposed to the newly appointed principal, Shushan Voskanyan, against whom protests have been ongoing at the school since December 16.
Deputy Principal Ofelia Khachatryan told Hetq that over 300 parents have submitted requests to transfer their children to other schools. The parents have cited one reason: the appointment of Shushan Voskanyan as the school's principal. According to the deputy principal, she doesn’t have the authority to sign the requests, and the newly appointed principal does not come to the school.
