Body of Contracted Soldier Discovered

On January 6, 2020, around 15:00, in the combat position of the protective area of military unit N of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, contracted soldier Gegham Khachatryan inflicted a fatal gunshot wound to himself using his assigned machine gun. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, as reported by the Investigative Committee.

A criminal case has been launched in the sixth field investigative division of the main military investigative department of the Republic of Armenia's Investigative Committee under the features of the crime defined in the first part of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. An investigation is underway.

Necessary investigative and procedural actions are being undertaken to ensure a comprehensive, complete, and objective examination of the incident.
