The wife of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Anna Hakobyan, has published a brief excerpt from her speech during the annual charity gala dinner of the 'My Step' Foundation on her Facebook page, emphasizing once again that it is difficult, very difficult, and unspeakably difficult for the wife of the country's leader to 'work' in our country and society.

“I want to be honest. In the past year and a half, there hasn't been a single month in which I haven't seriously considered ending the activities of what is termed 'the Prime Minister's wife.' And if I haven't given up so far, it's primarily because of my husband, who quite literally does not allow me to surrender. Now, if we detach ourselves from individuals and ask ourselves: Will we, as a society and a state, benefit if the Prime Minister's wife does not contribute to the development of our country to the best of her abilities? Do we, as a society, perceive the wife of the head of state and women in general as a force and a resource that can and should participate and contribute to the development of our state? Since I mentioned that my husband is the first one who does not allow me to give up, I would like to elaborate a bit: My husband's demands are no less complicated than mine. In short, it comes down to being 'bold and humble' at the same time. These qualities, which may seem incompatible at first glance, can perhaps only be reconciled by Armenian women—our history is proof of that,” she wrote.
