Armenia Holds Strategic Importance: Why the Netherlands is Opening an Embassy in Armenia
The Ambassador of Armenia to the Netherlands, Tigran Balayan, has made a notable post on his Facebook page: "The justification for opening an embassy in Yerevan according to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs is that Armenia holds strategic importance."
"Armenia is situated between Russia, Turkey, and Iran, thus it has strategic significance. After the so-called Velvet Revolution in April 2018, the new government is modernizing the country and fighting corruption. The Netherlands can support this process. Currently, Armenia is the only country in the region where the Netherlands does not have an embassy. The House of Representatives wishes to establish an embassy in Yerevan as well," Balayan stated, as quoted by Armenpress.
