Dismissal Requests Against Prosecutor Petros Petrosyan in Kocharyan Case Denied

The Yerevan Court of First Instance, presided over by Anna Danibekyan, concluded today the examination of the motion filed by the legal team of the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, regarding the disqualification of supervising prosecutor Petros Petrosyan.

During the session, members of the defense team reaffirmed their position towards Prosecutor Petrosyan, insisting on the necessity of removing him from the judicial process.

In the motion, the defenders noted that during the preliminary investigation, the prosecuting body committed several violations, including illegal searches, unlawful seizure of property unrelated to the case, and the concealment of testimony that favored Robert Kocharyan. However, the prosecutor ignored these claims and did not undertake any procedural actions.

The defenders assert that Prosecutor Petrosyan exhibited bias and failed to exercise appropriate prosecutorial oversight within the context of the case.

The court also heard opinions from representatives of the victims and their legal heirs, as well as the views of the accusing prosecutors regarding the disqualification motion.
