Court Adjourns to Decide on Kocharian's Legal Team's Motion

The Yerevan First Instance Court, presided over by Anna Danibekyan, today concluded the examination of the motion submitted by the legal team of the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, regarding the disqualification of supervising prosecutor Petros Petrosyan.

During the session, members of the legal team reiterated their stance against prosecutor Petrosyan, asserting the need to remove him from the judicial process.

In their motion, the defenders indicated that during the preliminary investigation, the prosecuting authority committed several violations, including illegal searches, unlawful confiscation of property unrelated to the case, and the concealment of testimonies provided in favor of Robert Kocharian. However, the prosecutor ignored these issues and took no procedural actions.

The defenders believe that prosecutor Petrosyan exhibited a biased attitude and did not exercise proper prosecutorial oversight within the context of the case.

The court also heard the opinions of the representatives of the victims and their legal heirs, as well as those of the prosecuting attorneys regarding the motion for disqualification.

The court has adjourned to a consultation room to decide on the matter. The court decision will be published today at 17:50.
