No Need to Look for Other Things: Kocharyan on the Dismissal of Movses Hakobyan
Andranik Kocharyan, a member of the 'My Step' faction of the National Assembly and chairman of the parliamentary Defense and Security Committee, does not evaluate the performance of the Chief Military Inspector Movses Hakobyan.
Kocharyan also does not link Hakobyan's dismissal to the visit to parliament, stating that perhaps it is Hakobyan himself who has written a resignation letter. In response to a journalist’s comment that after dismissal, he can no longer be invited to the Aprilyan Commission, Kocharyan noted that they do not force anyone; those who are invited come willingly.
“There is no need to look for other things; follow the official information,” he said.
Regarding the journalist's observation that Movses Hakobyan was associated with the previous government, Kocharyan remarked that the military has served under all governments. “It is another matter that at different times, there has been a slightly different attitude towards our military, because there was also a government that caused great damage to our army by using them in their internal political troubles, as was the case on March 1. I reiterate, our army must be kept away from such potential use, and today’s authorities exclude such a thing ever happening,” he added.
It should be noted that today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's decision has led to the dismissal of Movses Hakobyan from the position of Chief Military Inspector.
