Vitaly Balasanyan Supports Protesting Students and Calls for Unity Around National Real Agenda
Since 2018, we have repeatedly raised alarms about the incomplete political policies implemented by the authorities in Armenia. Today, the unpatriotic processes taking place in Armenia have shrouded the future of our homeland in uncertainty, undermining the vision of building a society based on national values.
A vivid example of this is the anti-Armenian stance of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, who has proposed removing the subject of 'History of the Armenian Church' from the school curriculum, making subjects such as 'Armenian Language', 'Armenian Literature', and 'Armenian History' optional in higher education programs. Additionally, the priorities for funding allocated by the same ministry include a budget of 20 million drams for the production of a film about a person who emigrated from the Republic of Armenia, sought asylum in a foreign country, and underwent gender reassignment.
The continuation of such a modus operandi jeopardizes the Armenian education system, national culture, and, in general, the future of the Armenian nation. It is evident that the Armenian nation must rise against this unpatriotic policy, and especially the youth, as witnessed today when students protesting against Minister Arayik Harutyunyan presented their grievances near the Government building before marching to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports to declare an indefinite sit-in. They are demanding the resignation of Arayik Harutyunyan.
The 'For Artsakh' national movement and I personally welcome this youth-led national movement and call on young people to unite around real national agendas and to resist any anti-Armenian and unpatriotic processes.
