I Was Thinking of Offering You Monetary Compensation for Recusal: Defense Attorney to Judge

You have a biased negative attitude towards Yuri Khachaturyan and cannot be considered a proper court for this case. This statement was made today in court by Khachaturyan's attorney, Mihran Poghosyan, who joined the arguments presented by Kocharian's lawyer regarding the grounds for the judge's recusal.

Poghosyan noted that the issue of the preventive measure chosen for Khachaturyan has never been subject to discussion, and that the Constitutional Court decision has been unlawfully applied against his client.

"I was thinking of offering you monetary compensation for recusal, as it seems normal in Armenia under the current circumstances to offer monetary compensation to a judge for not being reappointed," Poghosyan stated, referencing the regulation regarding the early retirement of Constitutional Court judges.

Judge Anna Danibekyan categorized Poghosyan's remark as disrespectful and imposed a reprimand. Subsequently, the court limited the attorney's right to make a statement, indicating that Poghosyan, by making such a statement, forfeited that right.

It should be noted that today, one of Kocharian's attorneys, Hayk Alumyanyan, submitted a recusal motion based on two grounds, which was supported by the other attorneys. The prosecution and the injured party objected to the motion. The court has retired to the deliberation room to make a decision.
