We Managed to Escape Through the Forests: A Young Man Who Raised the Artsakh Flag During a Football Match
Hello, everyone. I am Lilith. Vardan Vardanyan, one of the young men who raised the Artsakh flag during the match of the Azerbaijani "Kharabakh" football club in Belgium, spoke with ArmDaily.am and mentioned that they faced difficulties carrying out their action. "We expected more difficulties. We went there, and luckily, there was an empty house behind the stadium, we entered it, climbed onto the roof, and raised the flag from there."
Vardanyan noted that the challenges arose more after the action was completed. "When we returned the flag and put it in the car, the police had completely surrounded the stadium, but we were lucky not to be caught, and we managed to escape through the forests." According to the participant of the action, the goal was to show that Artsakh belongs to Armenia, not Azerbaijan.
It is worth reminding that during the second round of the UEFA Europa League group stage, "Dyu-de-Lange" hosted the Azerbaijani "Kharabakh". Activists from the Football Association of Armenia raised the Artsakh flag in the stadium with the help of a drone during the match, which subsequently led to the suspension of the game.
