The Highest Inflation Rate is in Yerevan
The Statistical Committee of Armenia has published the changes in consumer prices for September 2019 in Armenia. The year-on-year inflation rate in the Armenian consumer market (September 2019 compared to September 2018) was 0.5%, and compared to the previous month, it was 0.2%.
Over the course of the year, deflation was recorded in the food and non-alcoholic beverages category at -1.4%, as well as a decrease in communication at -0.1% and recreation and culture at -1.2%. In September 2019, a 9% inflation rate was recorded in the clothing and footwear category, along with a 4.7% increase in alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.
From January to September 2019, the average monthly decline in consumer prices was 0.2% (compared to a 0.1% decline during the same period last year). In all cities surveyed in the Republic, consumer prices increased by 0.1% to 0.3% in September 2019 compared to August, with the highest inflation recorded in Yerevan.
