Emergency Situations Ministry Dissatisfied with Technical Equipment
The Minister of Emergency Situations of Armenia, Felix Tsolakyan, spoke about the technical capabilities of the system during a press conference today, stating that they face challenges in this regard.
“We do not underestimate our capabilities, but at the same time, we do not overestimate them,” the minister said, noting that compared to developed countries, the technical armament of the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations is even below average.
The minister mentioned that they have received technical assistance from Japan; however, these contributions are limited, and new equipment is also expected to arrive. He pointed out that the regional equipment is less adequate and needs to be supplemented with rescue sports equipment.
Tsolakyan reported that there are only 12 fire and rescue units in Yerevan instead of the expected 20, and he also highlighted the daily traffic jams in the city, which hinder the operability of rescuers. He urged the public to be more accommodating and tolerant, stating that he will make a proposal to the government regarding this issue.
