French Ambassador Supports Arpine Hovhannisyan in Armenia
The French Ambassador to Armenia, Jonathan Lacotte, has expressed support for the former Minister of Justice, Arpine Hovhannisyan, who faced personal insults from Andranik Kocharyan, a member of the ruling 'My Step' faction, the day before.
Ambassador Lacotte shared a post on his Facebook page featuring comments from Armenia's Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan on the incidents, stating that Tatoyan's response to the hate speech aimed at women involved in politics was healthy and necessary.
It is noteworthy that Andranik Kocharyan, a former member of the fact-finding group for the March 1 case and the Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee of the National Assembly, made controversial remarks in an interview with a media outlet about Hovhannisyan's recent interviews, saying: 'As the former Minister of Justice, instead of using her abilities or resources to bring back her fleeing colleagues to Armenia, Arpine Hovhannisyan is busy spreading absurd and unsupported statements left and right.' He further suggested, 'Hovhannisyan should speak with facts and could perhaps mention the names of her mother and unknown father.'
