As Long as the Government Agrees, Let's Raise Salaries: Karapetyan
In the National Assembly, a draft proposal has been presented regarding the change in the minimum wage, which suggests raising the minimum wage from 55,000 to 68,000 drams.
Initially, the author of the proposal, Varazdat Karapetyan, had suggested an increase to 63,000 drams, but the government has expressed its willingness to raise it to 68,000 drams.
From the podium of the National Assembly, Karapetyan stated that he positively assesses the readiness of the largest employer in Armenia, the government, to take this step. However, some lawmakers expressed the opinion that it might be better to raise it gradually.
“You are suggesting to do it in two phases … No, as long as they agree, let’s go for it all at once, they are proposing 68,” the lawmaker said with a smile.
