Hasan Rouhani's Brother Sentenced to Five Years in Prison
The Iranian court has sentenced Hasan Ferayduni, the brother of the current president Hassan Rouhani, to five years in prison for corruption.
This was announced on October 1 by Gholam Hossein Ismaili, the official spokesperson of Iran's Supreme Court. “Hasan Ferayduni is sentenced to five years in prison following the investigation of the complaints,” he was quoted by the Fars agency.
Ferayduni was arrested in 2017. The investigation does not disclose all the details of the charges but is limited to information regarding his involvement in several corrupt financial schemes. At the time of his arrest, Ferayduni was an advisor to the Iranian president, as reported by TASS.
