Reason for Cargo Build-up at the Russian Side of the 'Lars' Checkpoint: Embassy
The Embassy of Armenia in the Russian Federation has issued a statement on its Facebook page regarding the situation at the 'Lars' checkpoint. The statement notes, 'The Embassy of Armenia in the Russian Federation and the Consulate General of Armenia in Rostov-on-Don are closely monitoring the situation caused by the build-up of cargo trucks at the Russian side of the 'Verin Lars' checkpoint.
We would like to inform you that according to the information received by the embassy, the reason for the accumulation of cargo trucks heading to Georgia is of a technical nature. Specifically, due to some cargo carriers exceeding the permissible weight norms, it has become necessary to carry out additional documentation procedures, which prolongs the border crossing process.
According to information received from the relevant Russian authorities, necessary measures are being taken by the Russian customs service to regulate the situation. The Embassy of Armenia in the Russian Federation and the Consulate General of Armenia in Rostov-on-Don maintain constant communication with the relevant authorities to resolve arising issues on the ground.'
