Edmon Marukyan, a member of the National Assembly from the 'Bright Armenia' faction, addressed the politicalization of the Chief of Police and the Director of NSS positions during a Facebook live broadcast. He dismissed concerns that this initiative threatens democracy and security.

“They say he will appoint someone from his team. What kind of argument is that? What do you think, if I were Prime Minister tomorrow, should someone from the previous regime be appointed as Chief of Police? Do you want him to appoint someone from your team so that you won't be caught? Is that what you want? Whose team should he appoint from? He has received the votes to form the government with his team. So, they say, 'How can someone under 25 be a Minister of Defense?' A person over 25 can be appointed to that position, provided they have been a citizen of Armenia for the last four years. So how come you didn't raise any fuss then, why didn't you express your concern?” he said.
