‘Joghavourd’. Unpleasant Surprise: Russia Hints at 30% Price Increase
‘Joghavourd’ newspaper reports: “The Russian authorities may soon present unpleasant surprises to the Armenian side. It has been persistently rumored that the Russian side intends to raise the gas price, this time for the residents of Armenia as well.
‘Joghavourd’ learned that in recent times, the Russian side has hinted to the Armenian authorities about a 30% increase in the gas price. If Russian President Vladimir Putin visits Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan intends to negotiate directly with him regarding the gas price hike.
On the other hand, the Armenian side hopes to achieve a change in the 30% proposal through negotiations. However, experts claim that an increase in gas prices for the residents of Armenia is unavoidable.
In this regard, the Prime Minister's spokesperson, Vladimir Karapetyan, stated in an interview with ‘Joghavourd’: “We always discuss the gas price issue, but there’s no question of the percentage. The outcome will become clear after negotiations.”
