If a Dog Attacks Me at Night, Should I Stand Still or Negotiate? Mikayelyan Asks Zohrabyan
Naira Zohrabyan's draft law on criminalizing the brutal killing and maiming of animals is deemed premature by Sasun Mikayelyan. He stated that regulations should have been established to clarify the conditions of animal custody.
Mikayelyan mentioned that his fellow parliament member, Andranik Kocharyan, had asked what to do if dogs attacked while walking at night. “I say you should stand still; if they bite, what will you do? Or negotiate,” Mikayelyan joked.
Zohrabyan explained that they are discussing entirely different matters, and in reality, the draft pertains to the brutal treatment of animals. Previously, Zohrabyan clarified that self-defense in such cases would not be considered as brutal treatment.
Regarding such cases, Zohrabyan stated that they will soon invite the Mayor of Yerevan to their committee to discuss issues related to stray dogs.
