A Program for the Restoration of Degraded Lands to be Implemented in Armenia
A program for the restoration of degraded lands will be implemented in Armenia through a grant initiative jointly developed by the Ministry of Environment and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. During a working consultation held at the Ministry of Environment, members of the FAO mission that visited Armenia discussed the conceptual document of the program with representatives from Armenian state bodies, regional organizations, and scientific institutions.
Armenian experts proposed that when developing measures, priority should be given to Armenia's geographical features and rich biodiversity, and shared their observations for enhancing the efficiency of the program's implementation. The team developing the program has expressed readiness to finalize the program proposal in the short term based on the suggestions made and present it to the Global Environment Facility.
