Gagik Khachatryan Undergoing Another Examination at Astghik Medical Center

Gagik Khachatryan, the former head of the State Revenue Committee, who is arrested on charges of abuse of office and embezzlement of large sums, is currently at the Astghik Medical Center.

The information was confirmed in a conversation with Sputnik Armenia by Nona Navikyana, the head of the Public Relations Department of the Penitentiary Service.

“Gagik Khachatryan is undergoing another examination,” she said.

Astghik Medical Center reported that the former official was brought to them this morning.

“An examination is being conducted, but we cannot disclose the results because he is accompanied by a doctor from the correctional institution; we are essentially providing space,” the medical center stated.

It is noteworthy that Khachatryan was examined at the same medical center a few days ago.

Gagik Khachatryan was arrested on August 27 following a search conducted by the National Security Service in areas belonging to him. On August 30, after several hours in a consultation room, the General Jurisdiction Court of Shengavit community in Yerevan decided that Khachatryan should be arrested.

He is accused of embezzlement of particularly large sums and abuse of office.

The former official's lawyer, Yerem Sargsyan, had previously stated that Gagik Khachatryan has musculoskeletal system issues, which is a serious condition requiring constant monitoring.
