20 Million Drams Allocated to NSS for Enhancing Border Protection Efficiency
The Armenian government made a decision during its meeting today to allocate 20 million 492 thousand drams to the National Security Service (NSS) of the Republic of Armenia for the purpose of ensuring the effectiveness of border protection in certain directions. This allocation is to be drawn from the reserve fund of the government as outlined in the Republic of Armenia's 2019 state budget.
The government’s decision notes that the allocation to the NSS and the reallocation within the 2019 state budget is driven by the agreement signed on September 30, 1992, regarding the status and operational conditions of the Russian border troops located in the territory of the Republic of Armenia. According to this agreement, the Russian side is only responsible for the stretch of the border with the Republic of Turkey, leaving certain areas to the left unguarded by the Russian forces.
Thus, the 20 million 492 thousand drams allocated from the reserve fund will enhance the efficiency of border protection in certain directions for the Republic of Armenia.
