Protest Action: Gasparin Lays in Front of the Government Building

A protest is currently taking place in front of the government building. Activist Vardges Gasparin has laid down in front of the building and, in a conversation with ArmDaily.am, stated that he opposes the actions of the police from days ago, who resorted to violence against environmentalists.

“The police have the right to use force within the limits of the law. I have apologized to all environmentalists and on behalf of the authorities, I apologize for the undemocratic approach that was allowed and I hope I am not the only representative of the power who regrets this,” he said.

When asked whether the police's actions resemble those of the previous authorities, Gasparin replied, “The law enforcement system has changed the least. We have made the least progress in the field of human rights. In this case, the actions of the police were disproportionate.”
