Arpa River Fishers Detained for Catching 130 Trout
In collaboration with the Environmental and Mining Inspectorate, police forces in Vayots Dzor region apprehended two men from Garni village on August 18 at 05:30 near the Arpa River, who were illegally fishing with electrical shock methods, having caught 130 fish.
The Police of the Republic of Armenia reported that it was determined that another resident of Garni transported the two suspects to the riverbank in his 'Samand' vehicle. All three, along with the vehicle, were taken into custody.
During the arrest, authorities discovered a battery, fishing nets, rubber knee-high boots, a homemade transformer, and 130 trout. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed, and further investigations are underway.
