Court of Appeals Rejects Prosecutor's Appeal on Property Arrest of Armen Gevorgyan

The Court of Appeals of Armenia, presided over by Judge Karen Mardanyan, has decided to dismiss the prosecutor's appeal regarding the property arrest of former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan, leaving the initial ruling of the first instance court unchanged.

It is important to note that the first instance court judge Robert Papoyan, while examining the appeal submitted by Gevorgyan's defense attorney Erik Aleksanyan against the decision to impose an arrest on Gevorgyan's property, had partially upheld that appeal, acknowledging the violation of Armen Gevorgyan's rights. However, the court did not obligate the prosecuting authority to rectify that violation, as at the time of the publication of the court decisions, the National Security Service was no longer the prosecuting authority and the case regarding Gevorgyan had been sent to the court.

Nevertheless, the prosecutor's office believes that the investigator's decision to impose an arrest on Armen Gevorgyan's property is lawful, and therefore appealed the decision of the first instance court.
