Pyunik Loses to Wolverhampton: 0-4
In the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, Yerevan's Pyunik hosted English club Wolverhampton. According to Armenpress, during the initial 10 minutes, both teams engaged in an equal contest, frequently troubling each other with sharp attacks.
Later, Wolverhampton increased the pressure on Pyunik's goal, and in the 29th minute, Matt Doherty scored with a powerful shot from inside the penalty area. Towards the end of the first half, the English club took advantage of their opportunity again, doubling their lead with a goal from Jimenez.
At the very beginning of the second half, the Wolves scored their third goal, with Jimenez completing a brace. Throughout the entire second half, the ball and the initiative were dominated by Wolverhampton. In the dying moments of the match, Pyunik's players committed a foul in their own penalty area, and the awarded penalty was confidently converted by Ruben Neves for Wolverhampton.
In the end, the Armenian club suffered a heavy defeat, losing 0-4.
The match took place at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium and was attended by 13,050 fans. The return leg will be held on August 15 in England.
