Rustavi 2 Co-Owner Demands the Dismissal of General Director Nika Gvaramia

The co-owner of Rustavi 2 with a 9% share, Nino Nizharadze, is calling for the dismissal of the television channel's general director, Nika Gvaramia, citing his recent statements as unacceptable from a journalistic standpoint.

Recall that following offensive remarks made by journalist Gabunia towards the Russian president during a live broadcast, Gvaramia also allowed for insulting expressions on air yesterday.

“Today, in light of the situation, we raised the issue of the director's dismissal during a meeting with shareholders. We believe that the director's recent statement is completely unacceptable for journalistic activity and exceeds all limits. In our opinion, as a partner, he discredits Rustavi 2. We believe that the channel's leader has deliberately chosen this kind of policy. If other partners do not support us, it will be their fault,” said Nizharadze's attorney.
