Bank Operations Unaffected, Says Central Bank Spokesman
The operations of banks have not been affected by the energy system failure, stated the spokesman for the Central Bank of Armenia, Harutyun Kbeyan, in an interview with Tert.am.
"There is no issue; banks have carried out and continue to carry out their normal operations," he told the news outlet.
It should be noted that fluctuations in electricity were recorded in various parts of Yerevan around 1:00 PM today. The crisis management center reported that operational teams are working in areas with mass gatherings of people, especially in the metro.
Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan announced on his Facebook page that Yerevan’s thermal power plant and the 5th block of Hrazdan have been disconnected. There may be outages throughout the Republic, and efforts are underway to resolve the issue by 7 PM this evening.
Moreover, the press secretary of the Yerevan municipality, Hakob Karapetyan, informed that due to fluctuations in power supply, the electricity supply throughout the metro has been interrupted, leaving some trains stalled in the tunnels.
