Extraordinary Elections to Be Held in Artashat on September 29
The Government of Armenia decided today, during its meeting on June 20, to hold extraordinary elections for the members of the Artashat community council in the Ararat region on September 29.
The justification for this decision states that 15 members of the Artashat community council were elected as a result of the elections held on September 18, 2016. As of May 3 of this year, the number of council members was 12. On May 3, members Artur Galstyan, Artak Ashikyan, Kamo Khachatryan, Arman Dermoyan, and Hermon Avetisyan submitted their resignations.
Due to these circumstances, it has become impossible to continue holding meetings of the Artashat community council, as the number of council members has fallen below the legally required minimum, with only 7 remaining out of the 15 members.
